Objective 1: To learn about the divine appearance of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura.
On Friday, February 6, 1874 (Magh 25, 1280 Bengali, 1795 Saka), at 3:30 P.M., in the home of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura in Jagannath Puri, Om Vishnupada Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Goswami Thakura appeared from the womb of Bhagavati Devi as an effulgent, golden-skinned child. It was Krishna Pancami of the month of Magh.
From the very moment of his birth, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura exhibited extraordinary signs of greatness. He manifested thirty-two bodily symptoms traditionally associated with an exalted personality. He was also born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck like a brahmana thread, which devotees later understood as an indication of his glorious spiritual mission.
Upon examining the child’s horoscope, a renowned astrologer predicted an extraordinary future for him. Astonished by the auspicious signs present in the horoscope, he remarked that the child would become world-famous and would emerge as a brilliant teacher of life’s ultimate goal.
These remarkable signs were understood by devotees as indications that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura had appeared to render an extraordinary service to the mission of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Objective 2: To understand Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s service to Lord Jagannatha and his prayer for a son who would spread Krishna consciousness.

Vimala Prasad on the lap of Bhagavati Devi
At the time of the birth of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, his father, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, was living in Jagannath Puri, having been appointed by the British Government as the Jagannatha Temple administrator. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura had prayed to Lord Jagannatha to bless him with a son who could preach Krishna consciousness.
When his wife gave birth to a son, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura named him Vimala Prasad, meaning “the mercy of Vimala Devi,” the Para Shakti (the divine feminine energy/power) of Lord Jagannatha.
Objective 3: To learn about the childhood pastimes and special blessings received by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura.
When Vimala Prasad was only six months old, the chariot of Lord Jagannatha stopped in front of Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura’s residence during the annual Ratha-yatra festival. Despite repeated efforts, the chariot could not be moved for three consecutive days.
The chariot began moving only after the infant Vimala Prasad was brought before Lord Jagannatha. As soon as he appeared before the Lord, a garland fell from Lord Jagannatha and wrapped itself around the child. Devotees understood this as a sign of Lord Jagannatha’s special mercy upon him.
His anna-prashana (grain ceremony) was also performed on Lord Jagannatha’s chariot using Jagannatha Maha-prasada.
From childhood, Vimala Prasad exhibited extraordinary spiritual qualities. When his vocational inclination was tested, he immediately embraced Srimad Bhagavatam, indicating his future role as a great preacher of Krishna consciousness.
